"You really admire him don't you?" Annette said slowly walking down the hallway, a smidge or darkness in her voice. Why did she sound like that? Its not like she was jealous or anything...

He avoided something again. Annette had gotten used to perceiving lies by being in the military, mostly because of Riley, but from her cabinmates and crewmates too.
She accidentally rubbed her shoulder against the wall, sending a surge of what felt like knives through her chest. She paused for a minute to cope with thr influx of pain.

"You alright?" He turned back, "If you don't think you want to do this now I doubt he'll mind waiting a few more days." He used that adoring voice again, near to what one would use when talking about their god.

"Yeah." She winced, and continued to walk down the hallway. Every step sent a surge of pain through her shoulder but she ignored it. They stopped at a large door. He really was important to be worth a huge hunk of redwood.
"Maybe its best you go first so I dont have to try to open this thing." She said looking to the blonde whose face had gotten even lighter at the door.

"I- uh, okay." He darted forwards to open the door and shuffled inward, before freezing rigid and turning at a voice like lava from further in the room behind a desk of some kind of rich, red, wood.
"Back so soon Varus? Clearly I didn't do my job right."
Varus flushed brightly, swallowing hard, "N-no sir, you said you'd like to meet Miss Finely?" He was reminiscent of a dog approaching his master after a harsh scolding, tail between his legs.

Her face skewed at the tone of the Corporal. Wow, he really was almost... Doglike towards the general. The blonde gestured her in the large wooden door. She quickly walked in and saluted the General like the good soldier she was.
"Enginner Annette Finely, Sir. Pleasure to meet you."

Eyes the color of cold steel flicked to the redhead, "Oh," he began, a tone of distaste clear, "I expected there to be something... more, to this girl, you spoke highly of her, did you not, Varus?"
"Ah- Yes, Sir." The blonde was still pin-straight, standing at attention with the burning cold gaze of the General on Annette.
"Step out for a moment, the two of you, I would like to have a chat with Miss Finely. Alone."
Varus didn't even blink before giving a sharp salute and pivoting on his heel to leave the room.

Well, that was a bit rude. Even if he is a general is he really that far gone? Annette looked at the general to continue, not moving or releasing her stare.

The dark haired general was silent until the two men had filed out of the room, and then made a vague motion in the direction of a chair in front of his desk. "Come on, sit down, I don't bite." The statement was contradicted by the wolfish grin he held afterwards.

She released her salute and walked over to the chair, struggling a litle when she sat down. So many things have gotten harder since she'd lost her arm...
