Annette woke to bright lights that made her head spin. She attempted to sit up with an arm she realized she no longer had. Stitches lined her shoulder, and her head felt like someone was repeatedly stabbing her forehead. she looked around to find herself in a clean room of an airship similar to- or what once was the Hera.
"You lost a lot of blood, didn't you." A familiar voice said from the corner of the room. She turned her head to see Riley, practically untouched except for a bandage across his shoulder.
"And an arm apparently." She said poking at the strange sewing.
"Stop that Idiot."
"Sorry its my first time loosing an arm its a new experience." She said as her head spun as she lie down again.
"That's no reason o be messing with it!" he sighed and looked at her in the way the corporl had when she last saw him. The corporal...
"Riley where is the Corporal?" she blurted out suddenly attentive.
"I'm not quite sur-"
"Then we have to find him. My orders were to protect him and if he got hurt... Just help me up will you?" She said extending her arm for him to grab on to. He carefully helped her out of the bed and walked behind her to make sure she didn't collapse.

The next time he blinked his eyes open, he was met with a clear sensation of excrusiating pain. A wonderful experience, truly, his face felt stiff and stung- shrapnel, he guessed, his stomach had clearly been stiched and bandaged and- oh.
He lifted a hand to move the bandages off of his eye and was met with the sensation of touching someone else's body, if their body was weirdly smooth and covered in bandages, that is.
He still couldn't see out of the eye.
"Sir, please don't touch the bandaging, it'd be awful if that were to get infected." The florecent lights revealed a woman with ashe blonde hair and a military issued medic's uniform. His instant response, was that of "Where's Ol- General Sol?"
"We're on our way to paris, the General insisted we fetch you, and it's a good thing we did, what happened, if you don't mind me asking?"

Annette knocked on the door, after hearing the Corporal speak, and completely avoiding it. Riley had stiffened up at his words, but she was just happy to hear he was still alive.
"Come in." A woman's voice was heard from inside and she used her arm that was still attached to her to open the rather heavy door.
She saw the corporal and tried desperately to not show sadness. His face was badly burned on one side and he was intensely pale. She knew she should have tried to convince him to come, and now this happened.
"Hello, sir." She said trying to smile, after all she was honestly glad he wasn't dead, but she wasn't sre it was because she would have failed her mission.

"Glad you're not dead soldier," He tried to keep the disapointment that it's take him even longer to see Oliver again from getting into his voice, but his worry faded to anger as he turned his head and saw her, "What is that." His words weree cond, trying to keep all emotion form leaking into his tone- he knew he couldnt let himself get angry, even if he did fail in his duty to his country, in trying to save lives, he only caused more trouble.

"What, this." She smiled gesturing to her stitches. "Small casualty."
"I wouldn't call it small." The boy behind her said as she proceeded to punch him in the arm. "Still could beat you so its not that bad."
The boy just stared at her uncomfotably and with a little hint of anger.
"Anyway, what happened to you." She said turning serious. "You look awful pale."

He looked down, looking ashamed, "I fucked up and now people are dead, compared to them, I'm fine, I got off easy for an inexcusable offense." The burned side of his face tingled, he ignored it, Oliver was going to kill him, and he'd deserve it entirely.

"No no. We fucked up. I could have stopped you if I felt it necessary, and many more people would have died if we didn't." She said looking into his eyes. They were completely untouched by his burns and shone a little in the bright light.

"I am your superior and I gave you an order, the fault will go to me, even if you believe otherwise, because I was responsible for your saftey as you were charged with mine," His good eye shifted to the boy behind her, "Who's your friend?" He needed to get off this subject, It was making him homesick.

She looked sadly at him. He didn't need to put all the blame on himself...
"This is Engineer Thomas Riley, he worked with me back on the Hera." She sensed the boy behind her stiffen up at his name.
"Pleasure to meet you sir..." He said obviously angered for some reason.

"I'd prefer it to be under better circimstances, but I am pleased to make your aquantince, Mr. Riley." He wouldn't question the sour mood of the boy, not so soon after having caused so much trouble, it had been necisary, but it had been awful nevertheless.

At that, the remaining hazel eye brightened considerably, "General Sol? You mean, you two have never heard of him?" He didn't even seem to pause, for an answer or breath, "He led the first real air raid against the Axis, a strategical genius, I doubt there's anything he couldn't do if he really wanted to, hell, I'm sure the commander in cheif would step down if Ol- The General wanted to take the position." He didn't even stop there, unless stopped, the blonde would probably go on and on until he died from oxygen depravation, as he had yet to take a breath as far as either of the others could tell.

He froze, catching himself at the amusement in her voice, the pale half of his face flushing bright red as the burns on the left side, "Ah, yes, he does indeed." He watched his hands, focusing on them, stained with ashes and wrapped in bandages to fend of the posible frostbite from laying in the snow as long as he had.
