There were footsteps, light from years of 'Good girls are seen, not heard sweetheart.' And 'What are you doing up this late?' Resounding in the hallway in a way that, dispite their soft nature, seemed impossibly powerful.
"There you are," the lilted voice of her savior, not ceasing in her steps as Varus looked up to glare at her. Not ceasing in her steps as she raised a hand and left an angry, red mark on his cheek, with the soft whisper of her voice asking, "A commander's duty is to protect his troops to the best of his ability. What gives you the right to ignore that." It was not a question.
She reached down to pull the redhead to her feet, being careful not to injure her.

Annette stared at Valentina, and lifted her hand with tears running down her face. She attempted to move the rest of her body, ending in an ultimate failure and more blood spreading over the wooden floors. Annette saw the smile of the girl reaching for her before loosing all consciousness and awareness of the world around her.

Varus's eyes traced the frenchman's face, subtle smirk of triumph on his face. With Finely in her medically induced coma, no one could be consulted, the Hera's crash, and the stabbings, had been blamed on Oliver Sol, who was stripped of his rank.
"Sir?" A timid voice jerked him back to the present. He turned, eyes falling on the small girl who had taken over the navigation of the ship, and had been playing the role of his personal assistant. "She's awake."
He stood, whirling and grabbing a bundle of flowers from the table, rushing to the room.

Annette looked up at the ceiling with a blank stare. The voice had been coming back to her slowly, blaming her for everything. She wanted it to go away. She wanted to be back on the Hera with Riley when everything was okay and the only thing that was her fault was fixing something in a half asked job.
A knock was heard from the door, and she desperately tried to contain the small well of tears that had appeared in her eyes.

He swung open the door, glancing to the redhead in the bed, staring blankly at the ceiling. "Hey sleeping beauty, finally come back to the world of the living?" As her eyes opened, he fought back rolling waves of nausea, how had he done this for so long?

He opened his mouth to respond and was promptly hit in the back of the head with a door, behind which, a flushed one of the Sol siblings, presumably the one not imprisoned. "Oh my god- are you okay?!" He dropped down, helping the corporal up, ears red in embarrassment. "I didn't think anyone would be here, should I get ice or something?!."
"It's fine, Emil."
"It looked like-"
"It's fine."
