She woke up before he did, but was quite content to stay as she was with his arm draped over her and her head in the crook of his neck. She breathed in the smell of him happily snuggling closer to him. He woke up shortly after, and she figured she would give him the time to sort himself out. He needed alone time with only the company of a "sleeping" significant other. He thought best with his arm draped over her, and with her head in the crook of his neck. She knew he did. He had told her so once. She started to stir getting impatient that he hadn't moved yet.
"You're more then welcome to stare my dear, but this is a little excessive." Esther grumbled in a more gravely than normal voice. She left that statement to hang in the air between them.
It was pleasantly quiet then the sounds of tiny feet running up the stairs emerged. The door burst open in a flurry of breakfast pastries, and syrup. Esther was so startled she had flung herself off the bed, and with a loud shriek (and a flurry of laughter) tumbled onto the floor.

The darkness resting in Everett's heart had broken, forcing a laugh out of his closed lips. The pile Esther had landed herself in was too amusing for him, and the two masses of red hair that promptly attacked her always made him smile.
He was going to miss them.
"We have orders to send you to breakfast, soldier." Annette saluted through her long bangs. She stood tall but giggled as her little brother did the same.

"Alright sergeant the troops will move out as soon as they are collected." Esther saluted the small soldiers, and then ruffled their hair as they tried to run away.
"My dear I guess that's our cue." Esther said to Everette flailing around for her wheelchair then comfortably situating herself in it.

"I suppose so." He turned his gaze to hers, a small amount of despair flickering in his. He should be happy that he had been offered such a position, that he was finally fulfilling what he had wanted, what his father wanted. But the thought of leaving her, unsettled him at least.
He leaned down and kissed her slightly, just for a moment so he could be sure to keep her in his mind.

"I'm not going to go anywhere while your gone." She had seen the small flash of emotion. He wasn't very good at keeping things from her. She lightly brushed pieces of hair away from his eyes, "Don't let them see you cry." She whispered to him. She knew something would happen once he left. After all she believed that something good could only be good for so long before someone else wants what you have.

"I wouldn't dare." He quietly spoke, wrapping his arm around her and burying his face in her long black hair. He slowly inhaled, breathing in her air. He hoped she was right, that she wouldn't go anywhere. As of that moment, Everett could have sworn he would never survive without her.

"Alright comrade lets prepare for the great pancake war." Esther smiled happily and was simply content with him trying to breathe all of her in. She lightly tugged on his hand to get him to push her through the apartment.
